Get out your Steampunk costumes, put on your Wizard Hat, we're gonna go play where the air is cold and the Chai Latte firmly spiced. Just learned we'll be doing a bracket at my favourite Trek/Cosplay/Jousting/WTF Weekend
IRONFEST 2014.
Heh. We get all the cool shows.
More details when the Owl/bird arrives with the little scroll....or I get an email. One or the other.
Been so busy doing stuff forgot to mention QATO is out now.

Greetings, O Dear Reader of the Blog.
When we last left our protago..proto..peri...Heroes, they had just done a late show on a Friday night and were feeling pretty Chuffed.
Good. Let's put them to work on another recording for The curious Assembly, this time, Slipping through these blues.
Of course, in keeping with my exalted rank as Executive Producer, my task was;
Get the coffee.
Of my own volition I added 'Go down a dead end street thanks to the GPS', 'Hit a speedhump' and 'Spill the #@^*# coffee all over the front seat, the back seat' and 'curse a bit whilst reversing...'
I'm quite versatile.
Our location looked like it was awaiting Jeffrey Smart to come paint it (ooh an art reference! How cultured)
I took a whole bunch of video , which I have edited together in a new approach for this blog, so no more clicking on little random video tags, now we've got graphics and HD and edits! ooh..
So to keep it snappy, here's the few shots I took then some vids.
Cheers to Harry B, Michael M and Scotty for their tireless efforts for the day.
We're not done yet either, by a long shot. Whatever happens you'll hear about it here first.
Howdy Folks.
I just realised I only ever use that greeting on the blog. Dont expect me to actually say those words, but they sure look pretty on the page...er..ok. Focus. Right.
Good night last night, and a late one at that.
First things first, Bill and Theo are two good guys with enough heart to learn an entire set of original numbers and then do their own set straight after. No wonder we call Theo 'The Machine'. I take my (metaphorical) hat off to both of them. Well done those men.
That they were providing the Rhythm section for our special guest Christina Crofts was sufficient motivation. Take a look at the vid...ah yes, but before that, here's some moments of Inner City Gigging that we've missed whilst out in the country....
Takes me back...this is the pub my Biker mate Adrian used to call The Fridge. When I asked why, he replied ' cos it where I keep me beer'.
Pop up store near the venue. I think this is excellent marketing.
Of course, not all the signs are hip, cool or trendy; some are heartfelt pleas for emotional understanding, such as.
I bet she wouldn't go out with him. Or her. Hey this is Newtown.
The Townie still retains the air of an old trad pub, they have managed to update it without losing the 'rustic' charm.
Apparently we need Scaffolding.
Old school
The Townie is right next door to the train station, and Newtown is a going-out destination for a Friday night.
Bad weather blowing in? Must be a Stormcellar show on nearby
One of my favourite things about pubs is looking at the artwork for bands. It's a form of personal, modern art that reflects a lot more about the times and environment than perhaps it's given credit for.
ok, maybe i just have a thing for obscure signage (that too)
As night fell, it was time to get the show on.
First up was the wonderful Christina Crofts, ably backed by our very own Theo and Bill
Aha, the promised video - BTW I edited this one together instead of just posting random stuff, so theres a song by Christina then a few moments from our own set. I'm trying it out to see if I like doing it it this way.
And yes Ms Crofts you may borrow the lads when we're not using them, but we use them a lot :-)
Christina's playing brought the crowd in from the street and as she settled into her set and opened up, the vibe was strong. Ryan (from Tamworth, shout out to you and Zoe bro!) said 'wow that first band was great' :-)
We didn't start our own set until after 10, giving Bill and Theo a scant 10 minutes to recover before we launched into it again.
For our first show at the Townie, how'd we do?
Shout outs to Sally for her attention to detail and wonderful help on sound, to Hugo, Rob, Dave, Dennis and all the folks who came out to spend the evening and a special thanks to the First Lady of Blues Rock, Ms Christina Crofts for gracing the stage with her presence.
This Sunday we're recording another song (Slipping through these blues' and if you haven't heard the new stuff, the only way to get it is to come to a show. Right this very minute there is a good time to be had in the live music scene in Sydney, ya just gotta go to a show.
Don't worry, the internet is at the show too!
