The boys doing soundcheck at the Blacktown   (edit)  Bankstown Sports Club with the Inimitable Bobby at the desk! Read on for the gig report!

Howdy Folks! Big weekend supporting the Radiators this Friday and Saturday. For a low rent blues and boogie band, it sure is nice to have production...lights....FOG!!!....more lights...and Bobby on Sound.

But remember, when in a club, decorum must be observed at all times!

As the Dude With The Least Stuff To Setup (bless you harmonica gods) I get to take the blog pics.

We seem to have a Space vibe happening at the moment...

MRose praying to casual gods that his fingers find the right spots...ok...he's actually just setting up. And now, DANCE rosie, Dance!!

Bruce was running the console for both nights. Hey Bruce!

Mark and Paul setting up. Pauls favourite kind of photo, where he's mysterious...Mind you, Dr Time (Mark) looks a little scary there..

Bobby was kind enough to participate in our Spacejunk process by recording the night (and the next) onto Analogue tape.

Bobby is so old school he still has a tape unit embedded in his rack!

SOUNDO HUMOUR - the mixing desk has a section marked 'Darth Faders' (good grief!).

There were a few bugs in the chain on Friday night and the recording kept dropping in and out (that's Spacejunk for ya) and we didnt ride the vibe particulary hard that night - I am allowed to diss my own playing (cos the boys wont chuck stuff at me) and I didnt feel like I fired. We had moments, but I think that last weekend's 3 set extravanganza meant that it took half a set for us to find the Zone.

As we had the same again next night at St Marys, we took steps to focus - pulled Help Me back into the set to centre the boys, changed the order, put Down Before back in and dropped Roscoe's Boogie out for the night...

Thus we were prepped and readied for Saturday at St Mary's

Saturday night saw us find the vibe faster. YAY! It wasnt that Friday was tragic, its just....I have unreasonable expectations....which the boys quite often meet. And indeed they did at St Mary's.

We started with Help Me and rolled onwards from there. Getting the right vibe showed up on the tape playback. Also showing up on the tape playback was the Additional Speed Issue (see chipmunk references in previous spacejunk articles)...not quite as bad as on our Mangrove Mountain mission, but definitely more Alvin than Barry White (lol).

I have noticed that Australian Women start dancing well before the men. For that, we are grateful. Thank you ladies. I was also able to see the folks at the sides of the room who got their boogie on. Thank you also. If we dont see tapping feet and movement, we're not doing it right.

The blokes most often tap, nod, sway, groove but generally don't want to get up from the oh-so-comfy chairs and the nice beer in front of them. Its ok guys, we do it too!

What we like to see is when the Girls Drag The Guys up to dance! Heh. hey, its happened to me! ;-)

But as always happens - we get blown off stage by the Radiators. And fair enough too, says I. The crowd swells, the beer flows, even the blokes start dancing. It's a pleasure to do these spots and an enjoyable crowd to work with.

We have another Rads support next week, plus a gig or two (I dont guess anymore, I just check the calendat Google App..)

Until next time..
