Behold, the biggest, baddest analogue tape unit I have beheld...
OMFG this thing is the BOMB...the tape stock is thicker than a belt from the 1970's. John has configured this to 16 heads (16 tracks across 2 inch tape? The SPACE! The Bandwidth!) and the sound?
John played us some stuff he had mastered for Chasing the Train and the warmth..the depth...the atmos...Chasing the train are fantastic, but boy oh boy, it was literally like being there.
I was going to play a little Spacejunk to John but after hearing these guys I felt a little outclassed...Their singer hit some stuff that would have made Paul Rodgers proud.
Back at Jacks Pub last night with Air Swing. Katoomba sure is cold. Big ups to Mr George for once again filling Rosie's shoes (Rosie is better, but we have a tour coming up so we gave him Extra Get Wellness Time...). Hey to J. from Perth (what is it with Perth girls out and about at the moment???). As per usual, I didnt take a damn shot of us, but I managed to get a snap and some video of Air Swing!
UPDATE: The Iron Crown Tour will start at the James Thomas Blamey Tavern, lake Albert on Friday 7th, followed by our appearance at the Ned Kelly Reenactment weekend to perform our song 'Last Drinks at Glenrowan' (plus a bunch'o'blues) at the Hibernian Hotel on Sat 8th August and then a Sunday Arvo gig at the Astor hotel in Albury on Sunday 9th!
The song in question is coming up on our 2nd album (no, not the Spacejunk EP, the SECOND album), and as that hasnt been released yet, here's the actual take of the dobro going down for the track so you can get a flavour for it...
