This is officially well the longest it has taken us to get an album out. Big thanks to our sponsors for the help btw.
And it's gonna be a while yet.
1 song is released (upside of down), shout out to Lady Suzanne for the sponsoring of the mix.
4 are mixed but now being remixed cos AJ wanted to get in on the action (which is a good thing).
The rest are in final tracking and re-arrangement cos both Mr Wizard and Theo decided to redo things just cos. And why not? With us doing the recording in the backyard and the mixing in The Cooler (my room with the window open) all rules are subject to change.
Also covid. Flooding. Some wars. Context.
Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead.
This is full speed. LOL. (sigh)
looks like our first gig in 4 months will be on the 8th of April at the Townie.
Wow. What a time.
Stay safe out there :)
I know it's a weird time in the world. I'm glad Downtime is built to go with the tempo of the chaos. One of the guys had to can today because of a possible Covid symptoms. This is the norm now. Another venue told me they are juggling acts for recurring cancellations for the same reason. Gives me a moment to take a pause and review.
After a delay in resolving some technical issues on the song production side we are finally almost back to where we were 2 months ago.
I am feeling grateful. Our mate A. got flooded, and the are there are things happening around the world that prompt a little consideration of context.
We remain lucky down here, and fortunate to be able to continue what we're doing.
From the current batch of songs. we're now mixing 5, fixing 3 and working on the rest, with one released as a single (upside of down).
Downtime still has 3 eps to close out season 3, and we are hoping to do some socially distanced live shows soon.
Step by step we're getting it done. A little extra breeze would help the ship go faster tho' :)
Welcome to the Putin Missile Crisis. 2022 has just continued the trend of Awesomeness hasn't it? I commented on the fact we'd had Fire, Plague, War and now down here, Flooding. To borrow from Howling Wolf I ain't superstitious but yikes...
The weather has been a factor in Downtime recently and this massive east coast low has not helped. Our thoughts are with our mates in the North, and Lismore in particular.
All this chaos has had an impact on the recording projects and things slowed to a crawl for the last few weeks. I know better than to get frustrated. It be how it do.
We're soooo close to finishing some of these. Patience grasshopper.
On a positive note, I finally, after much head scratching, figured out how to do some of the stuff we have been aiming at. I know I have predicted some website changes and they're coming. Ain't been for lack of trying.
Fundamentally, we have to retool for a 21st century music world. We're cool with it cos...again....it be how it do.
The future didn't stop, and there's no way back, even for the Masters of The Universe.
To quote Khayam:
“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
We hope you stay safe out there, wherever you may be, dear reader.
We will be making a continued effort to provide an alternative to the chaos, somewhere you can lay your head down for a bit and recharge before you face the weather again.
Thanks to sponsorship by lady S. we're releasing a single.
Thanks to AJ who volunteered to remix my mixing. This has spurred the guys to greater lengths which means....
A few days ago I was at 85% completion. Now.....
Back to the drawing board.
Single due out shortly.
