Onwards Ho! The basilisk they cried!
Beneath the burning sun
such juggernaut bore down
the weight of the world
Soothesayer made it. I can't believe it. that Zombie freaking song.
We have our quota. Mixes and fixes. Clocks running.
Entropy is a factor.
As we work towards the completionof Basilisk, using as many parts of the Basilisk as we can find, we've reached back as far as last century for some equipment...which reverted to Japanese after a few minutes of power in its circuits for the first time in years.
Between lag issues, double hits and our desire to work with what we have to hand, I have a slowly dissolving song or two that refuse to die. I'm happy to give'em a miss but it's a band right? so back to the mines to fix it. If it can be fixed. Can it be fixed? is it worth fixing?
This arbitrary deadline I have set is....arbitrary. But useful. Gotta get it done to get it done, to paraphrase Bill.
Trying again. Listen out for the shrieks and howls when it goes wrong.Aaaaaahhh!!! It's the Basilisk!
First gig in 2 months, Wickham Park Sun 10 Sept.
Everybody wants to add something. I rather wish they would, as then we could be finished.
Notwithstanding the fact that I am due 2 vocals and 2 X lyrics...umm....
Mixing/Mastering/Writing/Recording simultaneously is this circular breathing process that's like mixing an escher painting.
Usually, we gather mixing notes together as we get towards final mixing. But songs are still popping into (or out of?) existence and I am not done with bits that I need to be done with before we can make notes.
A few options. Hoping something will crystallize soon.

This intermediate master thing was a great idea. It's now time for notes and fixes. I am wondering about the time frame. 30 days seems reasonable. 6 weeks seems even more reasonable. Somewhere in that range maybe?
Ex COVID, this has been one of the longest patches without live play. Strange days indeed.
I am thinking the album tracks will be a little different to the singles. Some tweaking will occur.
This is such a different production chain wow it's noticeable. Usually the masteres works with what they are given. here, I can go back in the production chain and tweak the mix.
I feel fortunate that I have some good 'ears' around me as I try my hand at this. There's still a part of me that would be very glad if this was being done by someone else LOL (piker!).
Mind you, if someone really likes it and they send me a bag of cash we can always remaster, so that's kinda practical.
I am giving some thought to live sreaming a few of the final mixing sessions just cos :) Stay tuned.
