New guidetrack went out. Which one will make it?
Also, busy patch coming up.
Also, site due for migration. I'm wondering what to do with the blog. Been doing this since 2008, originally so friends and family overseas and in combat zones could keep up with what we were doing. It was our 'social media' without all the spyware (except good ol google). Now that Mr X is out, Big Daddy has moved on to the Elysian fields and many of those we love and care about have moved to other things, I've been wondering if we will become more video oriented, notwithstanding the pause in production on Downtime.
True to the spirit of what we are, the guys still like making new stuff and I still like making videos. That's likely to remain consistent. Meanwhile, a little change is to be expected over time :)
AJ sent us back the Kid. This whole album has been such an amalgam of places people and things.
By my calcs, we have 3 more tunes due to make the number the boys consider an 'album'.
I can't say which one's will make the last cut. The production process has been pretty wild. The songs have been mutating in the mix, or forming in the mix. Yeah I know that's an intrinsic part of the process, just this is...a lot. More than previously. I think.
This brings us to the last production sessions, then mixing, and then a listening party to see where we stand. With mixes from me, AJ and Ben, this reminds me a little of Curious Assembly. Almost there. Sort of.
We'll be starting up live shows soon. And we can't do some of these songs live yet cos we got so many international guests to join us. I am not even sure we'll be doing some of these live. Well, under certain circumstances we would. We would need a bigger boat tho', to borrow a meme.
Stay well out there. We're doing our thing in here.
This is some sort of Zen test process, I am sure of it.
10/13 songs now sort of done.
From the ones in development, which ones will make it through?
I dunno.
I'd rather think about album stuff cos between Flooding, Wars and Shooting, it can all get to be a bit much eh?
Sooner or later, even these tempests pass. And until it does, we'll do our best to keep it calm and steady down here in the stormcellar, and dream of better days.
I can tell when an album is getting closer. We start assembling a look book.
I'm not gonna explain this one, but there ya go.
So we are basically in 3 modes: 1 group of tracks are getting final polish before official 'review'.
The next group are out with Ben and AJ, and that's in their time mode.
That brings us to the Problem Song group and the New Easier More Appealing group. Given the ups and downs of weather, COVID and post COVID effects on time frames, this remains an uncollapsed quantum state. Could be we have a break though on the tough ones, in which case, whammo.
Or new stuff comes together fast - that happens - see Chase the Dragon for example, or onward traveller.
Some stuff takes longer to cook :)
Can't say. This one has mutated so hard it's impressive in its inability to be categorised. Work continues though, that's as it should be.
Live gigs too. New stuff. Are we even gonna play some of this weirder stuff live? Where are we gonna get a trumpet player from. And the sitar?
So many questions. Your card, lobster.
