Gene Gibson will be joining us.
Late, until late.
The weather strikes again, Westies Markets is off tomorrow :-( stay safe in these bushfire conditions. Crikey, and to think it's winter huh?
When we sad it was the Weather Permitting tour we weren't kidding huh?
After a week of listening to first mixes, making notes and seeking input, it's time for..
Finishing! Yay!
According to the current review we're up to..
1 X solo
1 X Slide bit
2 X Vocal tracking (minor miracle) and fixing.
"X" x Mixing and Fixing.
Plus integrating the choir.
Oh.
And recording a brand new addition to a song.
Ah.
And that thing I wanted to do.
Yeah.
Next week, we're on it. Almost there.
After that, it'll be mastering, pressing, artwork. All those fun things.
After which, we'll be working on the video elements.
Plenty to do, stop by when you need a break from all the wild weather out there. We'll keep posting what we're up to and the results!
We're out at Emu Plains on Sunday getting down in the...check the weather....looks like it's on.
Check tho. We do.
10am. Yeah
Quite a remarkable night last night.
Brother Bill and Mr Wizard have been doing some special teams training. Rosie & Mr Wizard worked for hours on a set list to minimise interruption in guitar change-overs.
The Weather Permitting Tour has brought back some songs-from-the-vault.
All these small changes lead to quite a wonderful outcome.
Mr Wizard played two of the best solo's I have heard him play in these last 11 years.
There was a point, during Hey Child, where I thought they were reading each others's minds.
That was way cool.
The Flow State. Yeah.
The Sydney Identity Project is on. yes.
We did our first filming test yesterday.
Testing our ideas has been a recurring process. We often go to considerable effort during the testing phase, to the point where you might be permitted to wonder if we're not doing the job, before doing the job.
Yesterday I learned a bit about the camera, the Monopod (great for the car, not great for the stable shots), the mic, and even the idea for the footage.
To do what we're doing means talk of permits, insurance, transport, logistics...
There's a lot of thought that makes doing it, possible.
I've been reaching out for my first interviews for the project. I'm not sure if anyone actually believes me lol!
For example:
PERSON: Hello?
ME: Hi, I'm Michael, from a local band, we're doing a project about Sydney and its identity, we'd like to do an interview with you about what you think the Sydney identity is, what is your Sydney identity, ...hello....hello?
Whilst that happens, I am gathering the imagery and other visual elements, so if you see Mr Wizard driving and Yours Truly on a camera being operated safely and legally from within the car, don't worry, it's not the Surveillance State, it's your friends in the stormcellar, taking a look at the world around them.
We're testing again tonight. Mr Wizard rightly points out this project might take a while. Album will be finished first.
Probably.
Recharge batteries, pick next sequences to test. Night Filming. Yeah.
