Heh. Make sense of that google. It's in. Yay.
The 'last' mix. Riiighht.
So....'it does the heart' good is now 'done' and apparently 'quotation marks' are a factor in 'this post'.
Dare I dream that this is...the...sort of...finish? ish? Finishishish?
Last chance to comment on the mixes before mastering. Final listening party? (I still think Devils Preacher needs more bass now hmm) ok so maybe..
.
one.
last...
mix...
(sing to the tune of I don't know why he swallowed the flyyyyy...)
So I worked on the songs
to finish the album
and sent one across
so AJ could mix
there were a few problems
mostly of my own making
so I took them back and gave them a fix.
And now he'll mix.
Theo hated the bongos
but left it quite late
to tell me they sucked
there were changes to make
so I looked at the date
and I looked at the time
it would be close
to hit the deadline
so I went to the web
to look for djembe
while theo called ben
but it would be on tuesday...
So we missed the deadline.
Meanwhile the djembe
I looked for online
came back to me
and it was not quite right
so I sent some emails
and I sent a few more
and got new tracks back
and they were still kind of poor
so now we've missed the next deadline.
Theo gets done
what he wanted to do
and it's pretty good
to tell you the truth
if I had of been patient
the less it would cost
instead of this mess of some djembe I got
So I sent it over to AJ anyway
AJ is kind
and he thinks we're for real
so he listens to this djembe
and thinks what is the the deal
the timing's kaput
it's messy as heck
don't get me started on handpans
this thing is a wreck.
But still he mixed.
So I get the track back
and he's worked off his butt
to make it less awful
but the djembe still sucks
and it's my fault for sending
these things that we bought
instead of waiting for theo
the way that I ought.
So I had to send AJ a message saying that stuff sucked and to ditch it.
Now here is the irony
the final hurrah
the deadline's in pieces
the mixer's distraught
there's thumping
and bumping and
hand pans and shakes
in every segment of the song
no matter how little sense it makes
It sounds like the zulu
have commenced their assault
and the best part is knowing..
this shit is my fault.
So now we wait.
Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week.
Friday. Stormcellar. Townie. Newtown. Late.
For real, all our shit is up there. I'm kinda stoked. It makes it easier to share!
All you do is go to youtube, type in stormcellar + song name and voila! It's amazing. The automated robots go grab the album cover and whack the song on it.
With the new album out, we have around 140 tracks out there, including stuff we never made a video clip for, either because we didn't have the resources to do it justice or we didn't get around to it yet.
Anyway, the upshot is...VIDEOS!!! I mean they're just the album cover with the song but still, easy to share.
Yesterday I generated clips for Fool for you, Island Time, Glenrowan, all sorts of stuff that never made it to proper videos. After making 700+ videos for the band, it's nice to have some help.
It sparks the question, what is a music video anyway? Sell the band twerking? Say our name a lot? Be the protagonists in our own mini movies? (makes me think of Sting's videoclip for Fortress around your heart - great song, great artist, let's just say the video hasn't aged well imho).
Youtube is the new radio, advertising supported media. Wow the more things change huh?
I'll still make the videos as often as I can, that's part of my thing, but I am glad to see all our stuff so easy to reach.
Meanwhile, I may take the opportunity to share some of the stuff from the back catalogue.
Just learned that Peter B Lowry, true gentleman of the blues has joined the Great Jam in the Sky. Our condolences to his wife and son, we were greatly honoured by Pete's enthusiasm for our work. VALE Pete Lowry.
