or should I say Prune and Snowy.

Ok, that was a late gig. yes I know we should be all hard boiled muso's here, but upon arrival at the Pi I was asked by no less than 5 separate people, 'WTF are you doing starting at 11pm?' The answer? Just doing what we're told...ok...and making sure we dont interfere with the football (Go the 'Tahs! About time! Ok, the crowd we're also keen on the Tigers in another code, but thats a different story)

Theo craftily setting up while the football is ending..

Was it too late? Lets see, what happened during the first set?

Nope, apparently Midnight Is OK for Hi Cost of Lovin'

There were some snappy dressers last night, here's Theo getting some Sartorial Tips.

And of course, another moment in my continuing personal fascination with Signage:

Yes folks its Late Saturday/Early Sunday at the PI and it was going off. Prune you rock, cheers for putitng the word out, Snowy's back from a Pacific Voyage and thinks he has Legionaires...Houseo did some interesting dancing and Matt danced with everyone. Several times.

Of course, there are the dangers of a late night start. Now how should I phrase this..hmm...delicately..um....Ah yes! After a night of drinking, people can get 'Tired and Emotional' - or, 'Emotional as a Newt'.

We had one dance move involving a 360 head over heels spin with two Blokes, The poor guy who'd gone over his mates shoulder kept dancing but his balance centre was Tired And Emotional, he came within a hairs breadth of slamming into the PA speaker and stand, only saved by Prune from toppling.

With a revised set order, compressing our usual 3 sets into two, that meant two long sets, and as Mr Wizard had instructed us to keep it Up, it was pretty frenetic, with several of the slower numbers sent to the bench for the evening.

Into this fiery dancing crucible we plunged a few new songs to test their mettle (I just won an award for Most Obnoxious series of mixed metaphors, yep go back and read it again. Its so bad I'm proud of it)...ok lets try that again. We played 2 new numbers last night, Suit Yourself and She keeps you moving on, both of which appear destined for the next album (did I mention we're working on it now?).

Several of the songs destined for the next album are being road tested now. 'Texas Rosie' is going well and we're looking forward to hearing it with some Fidddle when we record it...here's some of what it may sound like, recorded with Mike Kerin during our Tamworth Trip:

Not sure what the final title will be, but as Rosie is its progenitor, I guess he'll tell me at some point :-)

Same Old Blues has been in the set for a while and is Mika's favourite song of ours. So last night we tried playing two new ones, asked for feedback and got Prune's Official Stamp of Apprunal for 'Suit Yourself' and 'She keeps you moving on'

If you spend any time at our comings gigs, dont be surprised if the names, lyrics or arrangements change from gig to gig as we wrangle them into shape.

Returning to the gig...

Even though we finished late, we finished with plenty of people and a non stop dance marathon. Cheers to Andy, Greg, our Irish visitor, Mad Matt the Dancing Man and all the Friends of the Band at the PI.

We're at Kurnell next Friday night. Check the gig list (top right hand side of page, yes, look up) to see where we're at in case we're near you! If so, drop in and say G'day!
