Howdy folks. I haven't had much luck of late in finishing the videoclips and believe me, we need luck to get them done.
Anyway, I decided to try my hand a trailer advert for our next song ,the one we've been out recording tonight :-) (BTW good session, more on that later)
Memories – Last Drinks at Glenrowan Recording Session
A few years back when we were recording Last Drinks at Glenrowan for our third album Nuevo Retro, with Jim Finn, he suggested I go listen to some Uilleann pipe music for some inspiration … which I did. Step1, though was to find out what they are!
For those not familiar with the song or the instrument …
We wrote Last Drinks at Glenrown after we drove past Glenrowan on the way back from a run of gigs down in Victoria. It sounds like this:
And for those not familiar with the Uilleann pipes … you probably are but just don’t know it (like me) here’s a pretty good example:
Now truth be told, my approximation on the guitar should only be regarded as an artistic interpretation of said pipes, but none the less: thank you for the steer, Jim – left of centre is a good place to be.
Cheers,
Rosie
Thursday night is late night bopping. Except that we're starting early. 7:30.
The Jannali Inn also has Lingerie Waitresses serving drinks until 7, which makes setting up rather difficult as the boys get distracted.
Come get distracted with us or hang around for the music afterwards. This Thursday nigh, Jannali Inn, 34-38 Railway Cres JANNALI, NSW, 2226
FYI - just in case you didn't glean this from my recent blogs or the appearance of 'Onward Traveler' and 'Sweet Adeline', we've embarked on a singles releasing process.
As our last release was a studio album, we're in our experimental phase. I like to think of it as boundary pushing time.
So far we've released a song recorded on a 2 inch 24 track analogue tape system and a track recorded on an iPad in the backyard. I'm liking this approach.
In a weeks time, we're recording another track under the guidance of Mr Pete Doherty and we're still at work on various other new songs.
During a brief session with Mr Wizard and Theo yesterday, we continued work on the most dangerous new song yet. It has the capacity to go wrong on many levels. Great!
Musical Danger!
One of the movements of the song stumped even Mr Wizard and he requested a whiteboard in order to annotate it.
I present the mystical markings of Mr Wizard.
I'll let you know when we get it ready for live performance.
