For his own listening pleasure, Pete at Goose has remixed Carl's Chair over the last 5 months, tweaking and doing myriad things that mere mortals may not even detect. so what was the result? Sounds great!
How was it before the additonal mixing? Sounded great! We liked it enough to release it!
Now comes the hard part. We have to dsitribute the mixes, listen to them, compare between an unmastered version and the mastered version, then decide what to do with it.
As we're pretty much out of the first production run of the original, we're gearing up to make some more - so we could simply replace the existing master with a new one. or we could release a second collectors version, or something..
The thing is, we now have two good choices, rather than one.
It's not like the existing master is better or worse, just....different. Subtle things like the use of reverb, the placement of the mandolin, fade duration on Sunshine in the Rain, that sort of thing. ARGH!! So torn!
Yep, depending on whether you count the 1 gig we did in 2007, and whether the gig guide calendar thing is entrely accurate, the next show is the big 200! Woot! And our next gig will be at...um...The Pendle Hill Inn! All right, get down!
Our first night at the Royal in Bondi last night which was our 199th203rd ARGH I dont know, gig. Thats it, I'm just going to call our next one the 200th and thats final. Unless I change my mind.
Shout outs to Monique, Heather, Richard, Gary, Marika (bula!), Greg and all the folks who spent the evening with us.
As usual, Bondi was happening on a Saturday night:
As with any first night at a new venue, there's some question of how the locals will respond. Let's see...
Heh.
During a recent conversation with Pete at Goose Strudios, Pete remaked 'You guys have got one heck of a drummer' and you know what, he's right. As per usual, when Singing/Harping Duties permit, I get some footage. Last night I got some of Theo's solo from Parchment and Scruff of your neck. Any camera jumps in the following footage are due to the sudden need to start doing my bit in the song.
We'll be back at the Royal in a few weeks. That was a nice way to start off.
This coming weekend is a weekend off for most of us (except for The Machine, who just keeps on going) and we're back for what we'll call our 200th gig (or maybe 205th?) at the Pendle Hill In on the 9th of July. Meanwhile, we got videoclips to finish, so stay tuned!
Finally, after some prompting from mr Wizard, we setup an official Band Newsletter.
If you're visting this site looking for who to blame for receiving yet another piece of email that you didnt want, well, that's probably my fault. I am still working out how to use the programs involved, so all apologies if I have erred in sending stuff out.
We've been reluctant to do email stuff very often in order to avoid any internet faux pas (spam pas?). However, in the unlikely event that you DID want one and havent got one, use the Sign up for Gig alerts option (look up there on your left).
If you got it and dont want it, use the unsubscribe function in the newsletter or contact us via the site and we will immediately rectify it!
