Winning is getting to do what you do - weekend gig report
Howdy Folks. Its been a while since I did a gig report, so here's some cloud porn.
Yep, that's what we're about.
Regular cellar dwellers know I usually harp on about how much I love travelling through New South Wales. Same again but even more so.
Yeah I know its pictures of clouds, but this is actually kind of important.
The environment we're in influences what we write, how we feel.
It was good to travel this weekend and good to visit Dubbo.
BTW we're doing a lot of our real time stuff on the facebook page (yeah I know) www.facebook.com/stormcellarband. We can post from mobile so its got random stuff that I won't pollute this high brow site with :-)
ahem.
Thanks to Ryan and the gang at the Old Bank. They're making a real home for music and the locals are engaged with it.
We have thanks to give to our illustrious Soundo's (welll done gentlemen) and a shout out to Allan and Marie for visiting with us on their 45th anniversary. Their son bought them tickets to 'go see the 'sydney band' (LOL).
Greenbathing on the drive up in a Holden Caprice (tip of the hat to Dave Graney) left me feeling kind of sporty.
Plus craft beers.
Dubbo is awesome.
We drove up on petrol priced at 96c a litre, the cheapest petrol has been since I think the early 2000's. Of course day after its back up to UP YOURS rates, but that was a blessed trip.
On the way back we stopped by Cumnock and visited with Ms Jo. It's been 6 years at least since we were there recording Carl's Chair.
So, to sum up, we had:
a brilliant drive in a wanky car
a great gig with people who wanted to have a good vibe
Awesome local produce
late night Rhythm Section Bonding at the pub (what goes on tour...)
and dropped by a mates place on the way back.
Yeah, learning about the passing of one of our cellar dweller regulars has made me a little reflective, but it's a good reflective.
We're fortunate to be able to to what we do, and as we said to one another at 4am in the room above a country pub, the most important thing we can do, is to continue to be kind to one another.
Also music stuff. That too.
